Critique of a Research Study Stacy Shaffer PSY326 Instructor Nowlin April 27, 2015 Critique of a Research Study I. Introduction The purpose of this article is to critique the article â€Å"Factors Involved in Recovery from Schizophrenia: A Qualitative Study of Thai Mental Health Nurses†, (Kaewprom, Curtis Deane, 2011). Through qualitative research, the authors of this article aimed to answer the question of what factors are present in the recovery from schizophrenia. In recent years, Thailand has come a long way in how it views mental illnesses. And because of this, the country has taken remarkable steps to provide care for those suffering from mental illness such as schizophrenia To gain a better understanding of what exactly the researchers were trying to answer, research was done on schizophrenia. Schizophrenia impairs a person’s emotional and cognitive abilities to interact with other people. Should these impairments not be assessed and treated affectively, it could delay recovery (Martin, Becker, Cicero Kerns, 2013). After careful review of this article, I came to the conclusion that the authors did present a very well-balanced summary based on the current knowledge about schizophrenia. It did not appear that there were any hidden issues, ethical or not, and it did not appear that there was any bias in the article. II.
